Updated - October 27, 2026 at 08:36 PM.Waaree Energies Ltd is exploring an entry into the data centre business even as it reported a 15 per cent year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit to ₹719 crore for the September quarter of FY27.
The company’s board on Tuesday approved the acquisition of 100 per cent shareholding in Waaree Green Data Centers Pvt Ltd and its two wholly owned subsidiaries, Aurovault Data Centers Pvt Ltd and Sunstar Data Centers Pvt Ltd, from its subsidiary Waaree Renewable Technologies Ltd.
The proposed move comes as Waaree Energies looks to expand beyond its core solar photovoltaic business into digital infrastructure, including the development, ownership and operation of hyperscale, artificial intelligence (AI) and edge data centres.
The three companies are yet to commence operations, according to the company’s regulatory filing.
For the quarter ended September 30, 2026, Waaree Energies reported consolidated net profit attributable to owners of ₹719 crore, compared with ₹842 crore in the year-ago period.
Revenue from operations, however, rose 24 per cent year-on-year to ₹7,518 crore, supported largely by a 22 per cent increase in revenue from its solar photovoltaic business.
The acquisition will be undertaken for a cash consideration of ₹1 lakh for 10,000 equity shares with a face value of ₹10 each, according to the filing. The transaction is expected to be completed during the financial year 2026-27.
Waaree Green Data Centers was incorporated on August 30, 2024, while Aurovault Data Centers and Sunstar Data Centers were incorporated in September 2026.
All three entities are yet to commence operations. The company said the acquisition is a related-party transaction being undertaken in the ordinary course of business and on an arm’s-length basis.
