Emkay Investment Managers has launched Emerging Stars Fund Series VII, a Category III AIF targeting listed equities and pre-IPO opportunities, with up to 35% allocation to unlisted companies, focusing on India’s long-term structural growth drivers.
Emkay Investment Managers Limited (EIML), the asset management arm of Emkay Global Financial Services, has announced the launch of Emkay Emerging Stars Fund – Series VII, a SEBI-registered Category III Alternative Investment Fund (AIF). The fund is designed to capture India’s next phase of wealth creation across both listed equities and high-conviction pre-IPO opportunities.A core differentiator of the fund is its ability to participate in India’s expanding pre-IPO landscape, with up to 35% allocation to unlisted/pre-IPO investments.
The fund aims to identify companies with strong fundamentals and defined liquidity timelines at relatively attractive valuations, 6–9 months ahead of their IPO filings. This comes at a time when India has become a major IPO hub, accounting for 32.5% of global IPO volumes, up from 5.8% in 2019.
The investment strategy focuses on five key macro shifts reshaping India’s economic growth: digitization, financialization of savings, artificial intelligence, manufacturing, and energy transition. With an expected rise in internet users to 900 million by 2025 and rapid adoption of digital payments, the fund seeks to benefit from structural changes influencing sectors and business models in the decade ahead.
Emkay’s proprietary E-Qual Framework will serve as the foundation for evaluating investment opportunities. The framework uses a governance-first, data-driven model to assess management integrity, capability, investor communication, wealth distribution, and liquidity.

A Risk-Reward Matrix will further guide the fund’s filtering process by screening for quality, valuation, and size-adjusted return expectations, while eliminating companies with red flags like excessive leverage and governance issues.
Manish Sonthalia, Chief Investment Officer of EIML, said, “The launch of Emkay Emerging Stars Fund – VII comes at a time when India is entering a ‘Golden Decade,’ shaped by five long-duration drivers—financialisation of savings, expanding household consumption, accelerating digitisation and AI adoption, rapid energy transition, and the country’s rising manufacturing competitiveness.”
The fund aims to build a diversified portfolio across sectors and market capitalisations, combining listed equities with selective pre-IPO bets. The investment objective is to achieve long-term capital appreciation by investing in equity and equity-related instruments, with up to 35% exposure to unlisted/pre-IPO companies.
The fund will offer fortnightly subscriptions and quarterly redemptions, with exit loads of 3% for redemptions within 24 months from the date of final drawdown and 2% thereafter. It will be benchmarked against the BSE 500 TRI and has an investment horizon of two years or more.
The fund will be jointly managed by Manish Sonthalia, Director & CIO, and Kashyap Javeri, Head of Research and Co-Fund Manager.
