The leasing of office spaces rose 8 per cent year-on-year across nine major cities -- Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Kochi.

Real estate consultant CBRE on Thursday said that India's office sector recorded absorption of 66.4 million sq ft in January-September 2026, marking a record high for any nine-month period.

The total absorption during the July-September period stood at 21 million sq ft, increasing 6 per cent from the year-ago period.

"After three consecutive record years, the office market remains on course for a fourth, with January-September 2026 leasing already accounting for nearly 80 per cent of last year's full-year total.

"What stands out is the breadth of demand underpinning this growth. Flexible space operators, BFSI and technology occupiers are all expanding simultaneously, while occupiers across the board continue to gravitate towards higher-quality buildings. That breadth of demand is what gives this cycle its durability," Anshuman Magazine, Chairman and CEO, India, South-East Asia, Middle East and Africa, CBRE, said.

CBRE highlighted that GCCs leased 8.7 million sq ft during the September quarter, and a record 28 million sq ft in the first nine months of this year.

GCC space take-up volumes rose 16 per cent Y-o-Y over the nine months, it added.
