Blackstone has established its second office in India, specifically a global capability centre in Bengaluru. This centre aims to improve the firm's operational capabilities and support its global businesses effectively. Susan Yung, a senior managing director, will manage the new centre, leveraging her extensive experience. The company has been a significant investor in India, expanding across various sectors over the past two decades.
MUMBAI: Blackstone, the US-based alternative asset manager, has opened its second office in India in Bengaluru, establishing a global capability centre (GCC) to strengthen its operational capabilities and support the firm’s businesses worldwide.Located at an office park jointly owned by Blackstone Real Estate and Prestige Group, the centre will bring together Blackstone employees and professional services partnerships across corporate function, the global investment major said in a release.
Susan Yung, a senior managing director in Blackstone Credit & Insurance’s investment operations team, will oversee the GCC. Yung has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry and previously lived in Bengaluru while working at Goldman Sachs.
“We are proud to deepen our presence in India with a new office in Bengaluru, reflecting our conviction in one of our most important markets globally,” said Michael Chae, vice chairman and chief financial officer of Blackstone. “This expansion reaffirms our long-term commitment to India, where we have become one of the most prominent global investors over the past two decades.
Blackstone’s investment professionals will continue to be based in Mumbai, the firm’s India headquarters.

The New York Stock Exchange-listed company established its presence in India 20 years ago and has since expanded across real estate, private equity, credit and insurance, and infrastructure.
Blackstone is among India’s largest owners of office, retail and logistics assets. It has also helped launch five of the country’s six listed real estate investment trusts (REITs), including the first, according to the company.
Across its businesses, Blackstone has taken 14 companies public in India, highlighting its role in backing businesses and supporting their growth.
The Bengaluru expansion reflects the firm’s continued investment in its Indian operations, with the new centre expected to strengthen capabilities supporting its global businesses.
